Collection of data through social media sites and ‘cookies’
Cookies are bits of information sent to your computer or mobile device when you visit a certain webpage, and they help us to track use of our own website only. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of a website about traffic, visitors and their experience on the site.
We will assume that you are happy to accept them unless you have set your browser to reject them. Please refer to guidance from each social media platform provider on changing your privacy settings.
Keeping your information secure
Y2Y has security safeguards in place that protect personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. We only keep your personal information if it’s reasonable and necessary for the purposes set out here, and as required by legislation.
Occasionally we may need to share your information with third parties such as data hosting or service providers, who help us to deliver our projects, and advocacy, communications or fundraising invitations and activities. These third parties are contracted to comply with strict information privacy standards and legislation, and where relevant their applications, software and websites are indicated on embedded forms on our website.
The donation page on the Y2Y website is encrypted, with a security certificate. Any debit or credit card details we receive are passed securely and automatically to our payment processing partner, and encrypted and held according to payment industry security standards.
Any credit card details taken over the phone, via mail, or in person at an event, are encrypted once loaded to our secure database and any paper copies destroyed by shredding.
