Stand with First Nations against B.C's destructive dam

Sign this petition against British Columbia's Site C dam.

Dear supporters,

In the face of the Canadian government's stubbornness on Site C  even with the recent call from the United Nations World Heritage Committee to reassess the project  a federal Liberal Member of Parliament is breaking ranks.

The Honourable Michael McLeod, Member for the Northwest Territories, is calling for a halt to Site C construction if the free, prior and informed consent of First Nations cannot be obtained.

And he's sponsoring a Parliamentary petition on the topic. Please sign the Parliamentary petition now.

Free, prior and informed consent has not been obtained in this case. First Nations in the region are adamantly opposed to the project. They have even asked for leave to take their case to Supreme Court of Canada.

The stakes are high: recently the Chiefs of Prophet River First Nation and West Moberly First Nations wrote to the Premier of B.C. and the CEO of B.C. Hydro, advising them that a human burial site, a sweat lodge and other cultural sites would be destroyed this summer if Site C construction proceeds as planned.

The Parliamentary Petition is only open for signatures until Saturday, June 17 at 4:10 pm Eastern Time. Please add your name now.

We are so close to stopping this destructive, uneconomic and unnecessary project.
