Help make B.C. Highways Safe for Wildlife and People

Thousands of animals are killed on B.C.'s highways every year. In many cases, people are killed or hurt, and their vehicles are damaged.

Today, you can help get wildlife safely across the road while reducing human injury, property damage and death.

B.C.'s Ministry of Transportation is developing a new ten-year transportation plan and is asking for your opinion.

This is your opportunity to tell decision makers that reducing collisions by maintaining wildlife's ability to safely cross highways is a high priority.

Send a letter to decision makers before December 12, 2014, telling them that reducing collisions by maintaining wildlife's ability to safely cross highways is a high priority.

Or offer your opinion by completing the survey on the transportation planning website. If you do, please make this your top priority:

Reducing collisions between vehicles and wildlife while maintaining wildlife's ability to safely cross provincial roads and highways.

Dear Transportation Planner,

Re: Ten-Year Transportation Plan Consultation

Thousands of animals are killed on B.C.'s highways every year. In many of these cases, people are also killed or hurt, and their cars or trucks are damaged. Busy highways act as major barriers to wildlife movement, preventing wild species from getting to where they need to go to find mates and suitable habitat or to escape the challenges of a changing climate.

When developing B.C.'s next ten-year transportation plan, please make it a top priority to reduce collisions between vehicles and wildlife while maintaining wildlife's ability to safely cross provincial roads.

Thank you,

Deadline for submissions is December 12, 2014, so please send your today.
