Ecologist and Y2Y Board member Mark Hebblewhite says that oil and gas drilling is continuing on caribou habitat in Alberta, despite bans on new exploration in highly disrupted ranges

Despite bans on new exploration in several areas where critical caribou habitat is at risk in Alberta, thousands of new oil and gas wells are being drilled, says Y2Y Board member and ecologist Mark Hebblewhite.

The analysis, by Hebblewhite and his University of Montana colleague, Brady Allred, is based on a database of drilling activity across North America. It shows that drilling is occurring on highly disrupted caribou ranges in the province, and in areas where new exploration was banned.
