Natalie Bourbonnais-Spear, Grants Coordinator

NatalieNatalie Bourbonnais-Spear is passionate about relationships people have with their environments. Her academic and professional career has been focused on working with Indigenous peoples in the field of traditional knowledge and environmental assessments in Alberta, British Columbia, and Nunavut, as well as internationally (West Africa and Central America).

She brings a multidisciplinary background, with a Master’s degree in biology from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Science from the Université du Québec à Montréal, and a Minor in Anthropology from the Université de Montréal.

Natalie has 12 years of professional experience that includes project management, as well as report and proposal writing. She is excited to be part of the Y2Y team and to apply this experience to conservation initiatives in her role as Grants Coordinator.

Originally from Quebec, she moved to Alberta in 2005. She was drawn to the Rocky Mountains early on, and now lives in Canmore with her partner and two young children, where they can be found hiking, camping, cycling, skiing, and otherwise enjoying the beautiful landscape.
