Courtney Burk, Program Associate (Communications)

Courtney BurkCourtney is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick’s Renaissance College Program (Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies), with a secondary major in Environmental Studies, completed in Haida Gwaii with the Haida Gwaii Higher Education Society. First introduced to the Rockies as the Education Program Coordinator for the Friends of Jasper National Park, Courtney quickly found home in the mountains and has been itching to get back to them. She is excited to be working towards the conservation of their wilderness with the Y2Y team.

Throughout university, Courtney found opportunities to increase environmental awareness and education in her community through working with local and international ENGO’s, pushing for a harvest garden and farmers market on the UNB campus through the Campus Food Strategy Group, and taking every opportunity available to increase her own knowledge and skillset.

When she is not at work, Courtney can be found playing outside, usually on a mountain. Always on the go and exploring, she loves meeting new people who share her passion for the outdoors and environmental conservation. Her and her van (named “Pearl”), have been from the west coast to the east coast and back again, and are excited to call Canmore home for now!
