Carey Donkervoort, Finance and Human Resources Director

Originally from London, Ontario, Carey attended the University of Waterloo Co-op School of Accountancy and Sir Wilfred Laurier University School of Business, where he completed his Bachelor of Mathematics Degree and four years practical experience as a Chartered Accountant student with a national public accounting firm.

Carey has worked in various Finance and Accounting leadership roles at both the Corporate and Operational levels for various organizations in Real Estate Development, Retail, Hospitality and Education. He has a diversified background in all areas of Finance and Administration, including Operational Analysis, Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting, Taxation, Information Systems, Human Resources Management, Policy and Control Procedures, Audit, Risk Management, Treasury and Working Capital Management.

Carey is a long-term resident of Canmore, Alberta, and originally moved here to join the Banff Centre for Continuing Education. Previously, Carey held progressive positions in Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Budgeting and Cash Management. After his Controller role with the Banff Centre, he joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as Director of Finance and Business Support, working for the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire.

Carey is passionate about nature and wildlife conservation and is thrilled to help connect and protect the Yellowstone to Yukon region as Y2Y’s Finance and Human Resources Director.
