Peter Aengst, M.S.
Peter Aengst lives in Bozeman, MT, and is a campaigner and natural resource policy expert active in public land issues in the Yellowstone to Yukon region.
From 1998 to 2001, Peter lived in Canmore, AB, and worked for the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative as its outreach and communications director. He has served on the staff and board of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the board of Montana Conservation Voters, and for the past thirteen years worked at the Wilderness Society. Currently, he is the Director of the Society’s Northern Rockies Regional office, which covers Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.
During his many years of conservation work, Peter has helped lead successful campaigns to stop a gold mine proposed outside Yellowstone National Park, congressionally withdraw Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front and the Wyoming Range from energy development, and secure new conservation based management plans.
Peter has an undergraduate degree from Williams College and a Masters in Natural Resource Policy from the University of Michigan. He enjoys getting out on the trails or ski slopes of southwest Montana with his son and wife.
