Our Story
Like any great story, ours is filled with a series of serendipitous moments which led to the birth of a grand vision – restore and maintain the connections between Yellowstone National Park to the Yukon to ensure the health of its eco-systems, wildlife and the people who depend on it. The most important of these include:
- the journey of one gray wolf name Pluie;
- a moment of clarity for one conservationist while sitting around a camp fire; and
- the courage of one man to walk 2000 miles from Yellowstone to the Yukon.
Inspired by the vision, a group of scientists and conservationists set out to make it a reality, and created the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative to carry the vision’s banner. Almost 20 years later Y2Y, with the help and support of over 100 partners, has achieved many conservation successes and continues to work toward many more.
