Executive Message

Welcome to our new and improved website! Because the Y2Y mission is based on connectivity – person to person, as well as habitat to habitat – we wanted the site to be accessible, useful, and interesting for those of you interested in the Yellowstone to Yukon region. Think of the site as a sort of base camp where you can get the latest news, study a map, discover new resources, link up with other organizations, educate yourself on the issues, and check for upcoming events.

While the website may be new, the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative itself is still all about people working together to maintain and restore the mountain region’s unique natural heritage. Y2Y connects and supports an extraordinary network of organizations, agencies, and individuals doing on-the-ground conservation work, and facilitates collaboration among those groups to advance an integrated conservation agenda for the entire region. We also provide scientific expertise and help conservation organizations gain access to broader sources of funding.

Officially established in 1997, Y2Y is currently engaged with a host of partners, turning great science into action, and producing tangible conservation results. While supporting the work of other groups is a key principle of Y2Y, we also focus on the development of comprehensive, large-landscape scale conservation strategies for grizzly bears, birds, and fish, and we work to expand public awareness and education.

With good planning and a coordinated effort, we can – and must – strive to protect the natural integrity of this mountain region for generations to come. Please join us in working to conserve this global treasure.

Rob Buffler
Executive Director
